Frequently Asked Questions

What is the FASC Privacy Policy?

Please click HERE to read the FASC policy in this regard.

What do FASC dues cover?

Dues pay for the Lobbyist, quarterly meetings, and the annual conference. Board members and members represent SCs on committees, at meetings, etc. are dues paying members, who volunteer their time and expenses to  represent all SC’s.

What has FASC done for Support Coordinators?

FASC has influenced change in Support Coordination in many ways including:
  • Been influential in having the Governor recommend a 10% rate increase in his 2006/2007 budget proposal for Support Coordinators.
  • Educated Legislators and The Governor on Support Coordination and our crucial role in the lives of individuals on the waiver.
  • Prevented a change in F.S Chapter 393, that would have been detrimental to all SCs. The change would have eliminated our role as an ADVOCATE and made Support Coordination an OPTIONAL service under STATUTE!
  • Reduced caseload size from 40 to 36
  • Helped shape policy on all SC issues
And many other changes
  • Effected positive changes in the C&L Handbook for SC’s and Consumers.
  • Advocated for changes in Delmarva’s monitoring protocal for SC’s.
  • FASC organizes an Annual Conference and provides opportunities for ongoing training.

The Area Office staff have told me that as a Contracted Employee I cannot join any organization that works against them.

We, as Support Coordinators, are independent businesses whether an agency or a solo provider. The services we provide are defined in the Coverage and Limitations Handbook, the Medicaid Waiver agreement, and promulgated Policies. FASC does not work against the State or the Area offices but does work for the continuance and good of support coordination overall.

How are FASC dues established and can I afford them?

Dues are set based on the expenses of the Association. Dues are re-evaluated yearly. We have developed a new dues structure for this year. See the membership section. There are payment plans set up as needed. To reduce dues, join FASC and encourage all other SC’s to join FASC. It is your voice and if everyone joins dues can be reduced!

Has FASC looked into group health insurance for its’ members?

Per Florida Law, only Professional Organizations for Lawyer’s and Accountant’s can offer this benefit at this time. We offer a link to agents who can help you find the best available options for any insurance. We continue to research and provide additional resources and information to help SC’s get this important coverage at reasonable and competitive rates.
